When we first visited Italy, we were on a Mediterranean cruise. Cruising offers plenty of benefits, including the ability to see a lot of places in a short period of time. The downside, of course, is that after a maximum of 12 hours, you’re back on the ship, sailing off to your next exciting destination. There’s scarcely an opportunity to get outside of the touristy areas to savor the regional cuisine or enjoy the company of locals.

Despite the brevity, that 12-hour taste of Italy was all we needed — we knew we had to come back.

When we returned to Italy, we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. That trip was truly special, enhancing our blessed marriage. As we soaked up the Italian culture, cuisine and countryside, we connected deeply — with each other and with this country.

The country, its food, its wine, its people — they speak to us. A lifestyle that values simplicity, a pace of life that celebrates moderation and even slowness and deliberation — yes, we were indeed enamored.

As a result of our experiences, we’re passionate about Italy and travel, but mostly, we’re passionate about experiencing life.
